Sit back, relax, and let an all star cast take you on a roller-coaster ride full of guns, gangsters, guns, sexy women, guns, drugs, and did I say… guns?
A mob boss takes a contract out on another mob boss’s life for a cool million dollars, which leads many assorted bounty hunters, assassins and gangsters to all try to kill him for the cash prize. And did I mention they also have to tear his heart out? 
Although the film gets off to a slow start, the pacing throughout the film gradually builds up to a great all-action massacre, in which the body count rises and the screen becomes filed with blood. The action scenes were the reason I wanted to see the film in the first place, and I was not disappointed as they are amazingly over the top, engrossing and entertaining. If seeing people being blown apart isn’t your cup of tea, you will be pleased to know that there is lots of drama and character development. Those who like gangster films will enjoy the first half, those who like gory action films will prefer the second half, but as a whole the film really works together to pull off an interesting and gripping storyline in which you really care about the characters.
Ryan Reynolds (from the TV programme ‘Two Guys and a Girl’) steals the show as a dedicated FBI agent, Jeremy Piven gives a powerfully emotive performance, and other famous faces (e.g. Ben Affleck, Ray Liotta and Matthew Fox (Jack from ‘Lost’)) all have great cameo performances and help make the film sparkle. Alicia Keys, in her first on-screen role, is as far away as her goody-two shoes piano playing image as possible, as she sizzles sex appeal, confidence and likeability.
Although there is a fairly predictable twist at the films close, the denouement was satisfying, believable and really packs a punch. Go and see it now- it’s smokin’!
