Stranded Love by Hamzaa |
Falling into the land of "The Ordinary" (I'll post soon enough) got me falling into Korean skincare which, got me deep into Korean makeup products. It was a quick slippery slope (be thou very careful!).
I'm always intrigued and in awe of clear unblemished skin with a solid routine. Yet, I know that some folk really don't have to do much of anything to have it (one of my sisters uses plain old hand soap and she had great unblemished skin!). Soo, while I am in awe and intrigued I know that skin care has a lot to do with other things than what you slather or don't slather on ya face (genetics being the biggest) like for instance diet, water intake, stress, exercise etc. Yet, despite internal factors, it doesn't mean that skincare products won't help your skin because they can and do.
Now I'm not sure how I was switched onto this product but, I think the reviews on Yesstyle were pretty high (5 stars) and videos like this sealed the deal. Korean Essences are designed to hydrate and treat the skin before applying serums/oils/moisturisers and are kinda like a serum but not as impactful (IDK?) - Gothimatsa explains it well.
Each essence has different benefits and pros. To save you the trouble of searching for it - I've quoted the brands own spiel about what makes their product so fancy.

Features
Thoughts: Grossness and ethics aside - I think this is actually helping my skin. Even my sister who thoroughly thinks I'm the grossest person in the world for using snail slime has been semi-swayed on two occasions to give it a try before chickening out when she sees the slime. Apparently, my skin is looking clearer maybe its because I'm eating healthier and trying to not stress so much or maybe I have a snail somewhere to thank - only snails know.
"This essence is created from nutritious, low-stimulation filtered snail mucin 🐌 in order to keep your skin moisturized all day while bringing back your skin's vitality. The filtered snail mucin replenishes and revitalizes nutrients with looking healthy skin. It is suitable for all skin types. For best results use together with Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream."
Well, that's what they say.

How to Use
After cleansing and toning, apply a small amount on your entire face. Gently pat using fingertips to aid absorption, and then go forth with your moisturizers.
My Opinion
The texture is very stringy, with a cooling and light moisturising feel. It does take a while to sink into the skin especially if you follow the instructions and pat it as opposed to rubbing it in. Thus, when I'm in a rush I either end up trying to fan my face to "air dry" it for the next product or skip this completely and go straight to moisturising. When it does "dry" it leaves the skin "sticky" but, not in a gross way but a plump way and will eventually dry down to soft and healthy not greasy finish (no greasy or gel-like feel). I've been using it on and off for around a year now and the product looks virtually unscathed, which is a testament to how a little does go a really long way! When I've been good - I've used this routinely in the daytime and lazily at night. stringy snail goo |
Ingredients
Snail Secretion Filtrate, Betaine Butylene Glycol, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Arginine, Allantoin, Ethyl Hexanediol, Sodium Polyacrylate, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol.
Price: I paid £11.52 for the 100ml bottle - the price varies and as prices go I guess this is the lowest I've seen it go online to date. Now it's much more expensive and ranges from £13-18.
Expiration: 12 months
Verdict: I really like it and most likely will buy it again as I think its a silent secret helper. At its worst, I don't think its done anything negative to my face and at its best, it may be the reason my face has been getting clearer. Fancy benefits aside this is an awesome moisturiser and can be used as an undereye product too! It's also said to be great for acne and wrinkles so it's truly a wide-reaching in its benefits and claims. Ultimately, I would recommend it and I'm hoping to test this out with a friend to see how she feels about it and I'll check back with you on her thoughts. Till then - thanks for snailing with me on the journey!
