Beyoncé And Megan Thee Stallion Vs. Nicki Minaj And Doja Cat: Who Will Make It To No. 1? - Forbes Posted: 11 May 2020 06:40 AM PDT Megan Thee Stallion and Doja Cat employed the same strategy to push their current singles higher on the Hot 100, but even they couldn't have predicted how things would pan out for their smashes this week. The two rising talents are vying for the No. 1 spot on the all-genre songs chart, and at the moment, it looks like the race is too close to call. Both blockbusters, Stallion and Beyoncé's "Savage" and Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj's "Say So," have something going for them, and it's not yet clear which title will end up shooting straight to the peak and which will have to settle for less, probably No. 2. According to projections published by Billboard, Stallion and Queen Bey's "Savage" should lead the charge when it comes to streams, and its radio reach and sales count will also be strong. On the other hand, Doja Cat and Minaj's "Say So" will apparently outsell every other cut in the U.S. by perhaps tens of thousands of copies, and it will win on radio, but it will lose the streaming race by a lot (maybe tens of millions). Stallion was the first to re-release her hit single with a feature from someone better known than she, and the musician benefited quickly from the new take. The rapper recruited Beyoncé to sing and rap on the track, and fans went wild for the collaboration. In just over one day, they purchased enough copies to make it the second-bestselling cut in the country, and combined with added streams, the tune bolted into the top 10 for the first time, settling at No. 4. Doja Cat reached out to Minaj to hop on her smash, and the results have turned out to be equally as popular. The powerful duo didn't share their new version of "Say So," already a top five hit on the Hot 100 as a solo release, until the new tracking week had started, and now that it has wrapped, it looks like it has wowed many who listened. Of the four musicians mentioned above, three are attempting to score their first No. 1 hit on the Hot 100. Only Beyoncé has run all the way to the top, and if she lands another chart-topper, it will be her eleventh. A winner should be announced by Billboard later today. |

Beyoncé Flexes on Remix of Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Savage’ - Rolling Stone Posted: 29 Apr 2020 12:59 PM PDT Beyoncé amps up Megan Thee Stallion's recent hit "Savage" even more with a fun and flouncy remix. Their share of proceeds from the track will benefit their shared hometown of Houston through the organization Bread of Life. The "Savage Remix" feels like it was always meant to be a duet between the pair, with Beyoncé offering up multiple verses as well as some vocal runs that seamlessly blend with the smooth beat. On her verses, Yoncé smoothly raps and name-checks TikTok, where the original song took off, OnlyFans and her mom Tina Knowles. Staying in line with Megan's original version, the song remains a self-empowerment anthem. "Talkin' to myself in the mirror like/'Bitch you my boo,'" the Grammy winner sings angelically. The song was first released as a Tidal Exclusive but premiered on YouTube Thursday afternoon with an animated visualizer featuring a horse and a "Welcome to Houston" sign. "Savage Remix" is Beyoncé's first new song since her Lion King companion album The Gift. For Megan, "Savage" follows a busy few years. The track was featured on her EP Suga, which came out in March. It followed the 2019 mixtape Fever. |
